This statement elucidates the ethical conduct expected from all parties engaged in the process of publishing an article in our journals, including the authors, editors, peer-reviewers, and the publisher of the Sharia Economic Law Study Program at Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam (STAI) As-Sunnah, Deli Serdang. This statement is derived from the Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors established by COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

The act of publishing an article in a peer-reviewed journal SALSABIL: Journal of Sharia and Economic Law plays a crucial role in the establishment of a comprehensive and esteemed knowledge network. The aforementioned statement serves as a clear representation of the caliber of the authors' work and the institutions that provide them with assistance. Peer-reviewed articles serve as a foundation for the scientific process, providing support and exemplifying its principles. Hence, it is imperative to establish a consensus regarding the norms and principles governing ethical conduct among all stakeholders engaged in the process of publication, including authors, journal editors, peer reviewers, publishers, and professional societies.
The Sharia Economic Law Study Program of Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam As-Sunnah, Deli Serdang, assumes the role of publisher for this Journal with a strong commitment to fulfilling its obligations in ensuring the integrity of the publishing process. We acknowledge and uphold our ethical and many other responsibilities associated with this endeavor. Our utmost dedication lies in guaranteeing that editorial decisions remain unaffected by advertising, reprint, or any other form of commercial money. Furthermore, the Sekolah Tinggi Agama Islam As-Sunnah, Deli Serdang, along with the Editorial Board, shall provide support in facilitating communication with other academic journals and publishers when deemed beneficial and essential.
Publications Decisions
The responsibility of determining the papers to be published in the SALSABIL: Journal of Sharia and Economic Law lies with the editorial board. The determination of the work's validity and its significance to academics and readers should consistently guide such judgments. The editors are likely to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the editorial board of the journal and are bound by legal obligations pertaining to defamation, copyright violation, and academic dishonesty that are currently in effect. The editors have the option to consult with other editors or reviewers in order to reach a judgment.
Fair play
Editors have the responsibility to assess manuscripts based on their intellectual merit, irrespective of the writers' color, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
Confidentiality
The editor and all members of the editorial staff are obligated to maintain strict confidentiality regarding any details pertaining to a submitted article. This information should only be shared with the relevant author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as deemed appropriate.
Disclosed Conflicts of Interest
The utilization of unpublished materials revealed in a manuscript that has been submitted should not occur in the editor's own research endeavors unless explicit written permission has been obtained from the author.
Responsibility of Reviewers
Contributing to Editorials
The process of peer review plays a crucial role in aiding the editor in making informed editorial decisions. Additionally, the editor's communication with the author throughout this process can also serve to assist the author in enhancing the quality of their paper.
Promptness
If a chosen referee perceives themselves as lacking the necessary qualifications to evaluate the research presented in a submission or foresees that they will be unable to conduct a timely review, it is expected that they inform the editor and withdraw themselves from the reviewing process.
Confidentiality
All manuscripts that are submitted for evaluation must be regarded as confidential materials. The sharing or discussion of these materials with individuals other than those permitted by the editor is strictly prohibited.
Objectivity Standards
It is imperative to ensure that reviews are handled in an objective manner. Critiquing the author on a personal level is deemed improper inside an academic context. It is imperative for referees to effectively articulate their perspectives by providing cogent reasoning.
Crediting Sources
It is imperative for reviewers to ascertain pertinent scholarly literature that has not been referenced by the authors. It is imperative to include appropriate citations when making claims on prior reports of observations, derivations, or arguments. In addition, it is imperative for a reviewer to bring to the editor's attention any significant resemblance or duplication between the manuscript being evaluated and any other previously published paper that they possess personal knowledge of.
Conflict of Interest and Disclosure
It is imperative to maintain the confidentiality of privileged information or ideas acquired through the process of peer review, refraining from utilizing them for personal gain. Reviewers should refrain from evaluating manuscripts in which they own conflicts of interest arising from competing, collaborative, or other associations or affiliations with any of the authors, companies, or institutions associated with the respective articles.
Author Duties
Reporting Standards
The authors of research reports are expected to provide a precise and unbiased depiction of the conducted study, together with an impartial analysis of its importance. It is imperative that the paper appropriately represents the underlying data. In order to ensure the reproducibility of a study, it is imperative that a research publication provide an adequate level of detail and references, allowing other researchers to duplicate the work. Engaging in fraudulent or knowingly incorrect comments is considered unethical conduct and is deemed unacceptable.
Data Access/Retention
Authors are required to submit the original data alongside their manuscript for editorial evaluation. They should also be willing to grant public access to this data, if possible, and should be prepared to store the data for a reasonable duration following publication.
Originality/Plagiarism
It is imperative for authors to ensure the complete originality of their written works. In the event that authors have included the ideas or language of others, it is crucial that suitable citations or quotations are employed.
Concurrent, Redundant, or Multiple Publication
In general, it is not advisable for authors to publish submissions that essentially describe the same research in many journals or original publications. Engaging in the simultaneous submission of a single manuscript to multiple journals is considered to be an unethical practice within the realm of academic publishing and is deemed as inappropriate.
Sources Acknowledgement
It is imperative to always provide appropriate recognition for the contributions made by others. It is imperative for authors to include proper citations for publications that have exerted a significant influence in shaping the scope and characteristics of the work being described.
Authorship of Paper
The allocation of authorship should be restricted to individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the conceptualization, design, implementation, or analysis of the study being reported. It is imperative to acknowledge and include those individuals who have made substantial contributions by listing them as co-authors. It is imperative to acknowledge or include individuals who have actively participated in specific substantive parts of the study effort. It is the responsibility of the corresponding author to ensure that the manuscript includes all suitable co-authors and excludes any inappropriate co-authors. Additionally, the corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have reviewed and given their approval for the final version of the paper, and have consented to its submission for publication.
Threats to Humans or Animals
In the event that the task encompasses chemicals, techniques, or equipment that possess any atypical hazards intrinsic to their utilization, it is imperative for the author to explicitly delineate these hazards within the publication.
Conflicts of Interest and Disclosure
It is imperative for writers to provide a comprehensive disclosure of any financial or substantive conflict of interest in their manuscript, as such conflicts have the potential to exert an influence on the outcomes or interpretation of their work. It is imperative to declare all sources of financial assistance for the project.
Fundamental Inaccuracies in Publications
When an author identifies a substantial error or inaccuracy in their published work, it is incumbent upon the author to expeditiously inform the journal editor or publisher and collaborate with the editor in order to retract or rectify the manuscript.
